Forty days of Prayer at the Western Wall: Helping your prayers to be answered!

While every prayer is heard in Heaven, Jewish Tradition attaches special significance to prayer when:

  1. Repeated for forty days -- As Moses Our Teacher prayed for 40 Days that the sins of the Golden Calf be forgiven [Deut. 9:18]
  2. Said at the Kosel HaMaaravi, the Western Wall -- as it says, "The Divine Presence does not depart from the Western Wall."
  3. Accompanied by the Recitation of Tehillim (Psalms)

What happens when one combines the three? One finds a Jerusalem Tradition, handed down for centuries, that to pray for 40 days at the Western Wall is a unique, powerful force for that prayer to be accepted.

Since it is not practical for most people outside Israel to travel there for this length of time, we are pleased to offer a unique service: to have prayers offered on behalf of your loved one.

Each day, an advanced Rabbinical seminarian (Kollel Yungerman) from the Moked HaTefillos in Jerusalem goes to the Western Wall, with names in hand. He says Tehillim on behalf of all those on the list, and then prays for the needs of each individual.

The service is $72, which is tax-deductible as a donation to Project Genesis. With this donation, you support Torah learning in Jerusalem and Torah learning worldwide via Torah.org. And each business day, we Fax new names received to Jerusalem to be added to the list within one or two days after that. For the next forty days, The Moked HeTefillos' emissary will pray on behalf of your loved one.

Or, for prayers on a single, special day, the requested donation is only $10.
