One of my rabbis in seminary once said that the type of shidduch(spouse)you
will get is reflective of the type of person you are. If you are of
noteworthy character, you'll be zoche(merit) for someone equally worthy. If
you are not, well then... don't expect to end up with "the best boy".
(Meaning, work on yourself to genuinely become the type of person you'll
respect) I think the same motto holds true with the lying issue. Would you
want to be told about a possible shidduch, only to become aware of the lies
when they ultimately surface? Let's try to be considerate to others in
areas where we'd like some consideration ourselves!
