I sometimes wonder about all the stress that the Hofetz Chaim Heritage
Foundation and others put on learning hilchos lashon hara, but after seeing
some of the questions posted here I begin to see the utility. I don't
think that a single question I've seen posted here is problematic--they all
have clear, well-known answers, IF we take the time to learn. There are a
number of excellent books, the latest being the one published by the above
referenced organization which divides the sforim Hofetz Chaim and Shmiras
Halashon into easily digested daily portions. We all confront situations
of potential lashon hara every day. The only way not to be nichshal (to
fail) in the serious issur(prohibition) of lashon hara is to know the
halachos(laws) ahead of time. (And note that there are times that we are
required to impart negative information, so we really need to know the
halachos).
