Monkeys, dolphins, crows, and even ants, etc. were created before man and
are intelligent, unlike some people. Before accepting the prevalent dating
of life read "Not By Chance - shattering the myth of neo-darwin evolution"
by Dr. Spetner, published by Judaic Press. See Ethics of the Fathers, why
Hashem created the world (developed and complex) in ten utterances over a
week instead of in an instant.
Also consider: Different radiation levels and other changes in
environmental conditions (Hashem shortened age spans from 1000 years to 120
(ozone levels?), flood waters (some boiling from volcanic and or meteoric
activity) circulating at speeds to cover the highest mountains and change
the landscape, and the tremendous varity of species and DNA that
proliferated from creation until the flood, when only a small sample was
spared.
The scientific evidence corroborates one creator. Recorded and oral
tradition and archaeology confirms the Torah as true. If in one hundred
years, a most special creation of Hashem - man - can go from a handfull of
automobiles, fewer TVs and computers etc. and clutter the earth with
millions of them, using the materials created by Hashem, then Hashem, Who
created from nothing, Who man can't even survive a glimpse of, Who created,
streched out the light from, and sustains millions of stars and planets (we
can't even look directly at the sun at midday and it is a small star and
distant.)...
I think you misunderstood the context of the Rambam. Recent evidence shows
that the various primates lived concurrently and much more recently than
previously assumed. The monkey families were created slightly before man,
on the sixth day of creation, 5757 years ago.
