But our beings go deeper yet than that. For as we said last time, our soul is an amalgam of many components. We'll now concentrate on its highest one -- our soul's G-dly component.

In truth, our G-dly component is utterly foreign to this world and estranged from it. And it's as more-at-home in the Heavens as our physical self is on earth. So at best its bonds here are tenuous. Yet our soul's G-dly component serves a definite role in this world (otherwise it wouldn't be here!) -- it's meant to connect us to our Supernal Roots, and ultimately to G-d. Let's explain.

Our soul's G-dly component acts as an intermediator between us and our Supernal Roots. Here's how it intermediates from "the bottom up": the things we do -- right, wrong, and in-between -- affect our body, which affects our soul's animalistic component (through the medium of the blood), which then affects the various other components of our soul in ascending order, which then affect our G-dly component, which then affects the Supernal Roots. (If nothing else let this serve as an illustration of the axiom that nothing we do goes unnoticed, nothing is unimportant.)

Things then happen from "the top down" as a direct consequence of the above. For as we indicated before, G-d emanates a flow of occult and immaterial dynamism down to the world all the time (2:8:3). That flow comprises G-d's spiritual interactions with us. Now, G-d emits His flow upon the Supernal Roots, which then affect our soul's G-dly component, which then affects the various other components of our soul in descending order, which then affect our soul's animalistic component, which then affects our bodies and our all-round circumstances. And He does that in proportion and in reaction to what we do down here.

Thus, our souls and our bodies are inexorably linked to each other, to the Supernal Roots, to G-d Himself throughout our lifetime thanks to our G-dly component. (That linkage isn't only true of us individually, by the way: it's also universally true.)

We'll soon see what all this has to do with the Heavens communicating with us, spoken of last time.
