64: Telling the Story of the Exodus

"You shall tell your sons on that day..." (Shemos 13:8)

It is a mitzvah to relate the story of yetzias Mitzrayim to one's children and to others, according to their level, on the night of the seder.

The more one elaborates on the story, the more praiseworthy it is (Haggadah of Pesach).

In every generation a person is obligated to see himself as if he left Egypt. (Pesachim 116b)

This mitzvah to speak of the episode of the Exodus is reiterated again and again in the Torah. In fact, we are obligated to mention it also in our daily evening and morning prayers.
