Chapter 25: 4-8
The Conclusion of the Service
4. It is forbidden for a person to leave the synagogue before reciting this
Kedushoh.
5. A person should strive to recite this Kedushoh together with the
congregation. Therefore, if he comes to the synagogue while the
congregation is reciting it, he should say it together with them even if he
has not begun to pray.*

This Kedushoh may be recited before the two verses Uvo l'tzion and Va'ani
zos brisi [so that it may be recited with the congregation.] Afterwards,
these two verses should be said. How much more so is one permitted to skip
Ashrei and Lam'natzeach in order to recite this Kedushoh with the
congregation. Afterwards, one should recite the prayers that were skipped.
6. The prayer Oleinu l'shabeach is recited at the conclusion of the
service. It should be recited with awe and reverence. It was ordained by
Joshua after the conquest of Jericho.
Afterwards, the psalm of the day is recited and other psalms, each
community according to its custom.
7. When leaving the synagogue, one should recite the verse (Psalms 5:9):
Adonai Nachaini ("G-d,Lead me..."). One should bow opposite the ark as a
student departing from his teacher.
It is improper to turn one's rear to the ark when leaving the synagogue.
Rather, one should walk sideways. This applies when descending from the
platform where the Torah is read.
8. It is forbidden to run or to take long strides when leaving the
synagogue, for this makes it appear that staying in the synagogue is a
burden. This applies only when one is going to one's business. However, if
one is going from the synagogue to the house of study, it is a mitzvah to run.
