Chapter 130:3-6
TheTen Days of Repentance

3. [During these days between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur,] it is customary to recite "HoRachamon Hu Ye'chadesh... "(The Merciful One, may He renew this year...) in "Birchas HaMazon" "(Grace After Meals") as is done on Rosh HaShanah itself.

4. It is customary not to hold weddings during these days.

5. On "Shabbos Shuvah" (the Shabbos before Yom Kippur), a person of stature should be honored with the maftir reading.

6. In some communities, it is customary not to sanctify the new moon ("Kiddush Levanah") until the night after Yom Kippur, for then we rejoice, in contrast to the worry that characterized our mood previously. Others say that it is proper to sanctify it before Yom Kippur, so that this mitzvah will be added to our merits. [The choice of opinion to follow] depends on the prevailing local custom.

In a place where it is possible to buy "esrogim", "lulavim", and "haddassim" [for the mitzvah of waving the four species on the festival of Sukkos], scrupulous people ("anshei ma'aseh") customarily seize the opportunity to purchase these items ahead of time, during these days [between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur], so that they will add this precious mitzvah to our merits.
