Chapter 128:9 The Month of Elul
9. An individual who is reciting the Selichos [without a "minyan" (ten
adult males)], is not permitted to recite the Thirteen Attributes [of G-d]
(1) as a prayer or a plea, but may recite them as if he is reading them
from the Torah, with the appropriate tune. Furthermore, whenever there is
mention made of the Thirteen Attributes, such as "And remember for us this
day the covenant of the Thirteen [Attributes]," and similar passages, he
should skip them.
Also, the supplications that are written in the Aramaic Language, such as,
"Machei U'Masei," ("He strikes and he heals") and "Maran Di Bishmayah"
("Master in Heaven"), etc, should only be recited with a total of ten men
present.
